Grape Juice Recipe / Fresh Grape Juice Recipe

It is getting hot here. I dont feel like eating anything hot, the one thing which i want is juices, milkshakes, icecream and lots and lots of water..I have started buying tons of fruits. I am making fresh juices almost daily. You can check out my list of juice recipes here..


Grapes are one of my favorite fruit apart from pineapples and watermelons. I love the seedless variety, they are sweet and totally yum. It is great for making juices too. I already have a grape juice in this blog, this is a updated version with new pictures..



Preparation Time : 10 mins
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients:

Seedless Grapes  - 3 cups (I used a mix of green and black)
Sugar to taste
Lemon Juice to taste
Ice Cold Water as needed
Ice Cubes if needed

Method:

Take grapes in a mixer and grind them to a smooth puree.

Line a bowl with sieve. Pour this mix over it and press with a spoon to get last bit of juice from it.

Now to the strained juice add some lemon juice, sugar and mix well.

Set it in fridge till it is cold.

Serve with some icecubes.

    Sambar is one of the most famous south indian dish of all time. It pairs beautifully well with almost everything from dosa, idly and even rice..You could make sambar with almost all vegetables, i have quite a few of them in my blog..You can check all of them here..


    One of my all time favorite sambar is onion sambar and this potato sambar. I love the big chunks of cooked potatoes in this which pairs well fluffy idly, crispy dosas and almost all tiffin items like pongal. Give this and try and let me know how it turns out..



    Preparation Time : 10 mins
    Cooking Time : 30 mins
    Serves : 4 to 5

    Ingredients:

    Masoor Dal or Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
    Potato - 1 large pepper and cubed
    Onion - 1 small chopped into large chunks
    Tomato - 1 medium size cubed
    Green Chilli - 2 slit
    Homemade Sambar powder - 3 tblspn
    Tamarind Pulp - 2 tblspn
    Salt to taste
    Sugar - 1 tsp
    Coriander leaves / Cilantro a handful chopped

    For Seasoning:
    Oil - 2 tblspn
    Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
    Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi - 1/4 tsp
    Curry leaves - 1 sprig

    Method:

    Heat a pot, add in dal, potato, tomato, onions, green chilli. Cover with water and bring it to boil. Simmer it for 20 to 30 mins till the dal and everything is cooked.

    Now add in sambar powder, tamarind pulp, salt and sugar. Mix well and simmer for 5 mins.

    Now make seasoning, heat oil and add in all the seasoning ingredients in it. Let it sizzle for 30 sec. Pour this over the sambar and mix well.

    Now add in coriander leaves and mix well.

    Serve with rice.

    Cook till veggies and dal is cooked

    Add in sambar powder

    Add in tamarind pulp

    Add in salt

    Simmer it

    cook for a while

    Heat oil in a tadka pan

    Add in some seasoning ingredients

    fry for a min

    Pour it over the sambar

    Add in coriander leaves

    Mix well

    Serve

      Khichdi is such a healthy one to feed your baby, since it has dal in it. It gives the protein which your baby needs. And it is yummy too. I have showed you few variations of making it. A simple dal khichdi and spinach khichdi, this one is a vegetable khichdi. It is packed full of vegetables and spinach, so much more healthy for your baby.

      Things to remember before making this


      1)Cook rice and dal properly till it is almost mashed up, that helps in easy digestion in babies.
       
      2)Always wash rice and dal very well to remove all the starch and acky stuff from it.
       
      3)Add garlic and asafoetida helps in digestion in babies.
       
      4)This khichdi is so filling and nutritious meal for your babies.
       
      5)You can start feeding this for babies above 6 months.
       
      6)Always feed this meal for lunch, not for dinner.
       
      7)The consistency of this is up to you. You can mash them with a potato masher, or put them in a blender and make into a fine puree. I make it into a fine puree.
       
      8)Adding ghee enhances the flavour and make it more nutritious for you baby and helps in weight gaining in babies.
       
      9)Make sure the ghee which you use is pure ones. I make my own ghee.
       
      10)Rice wont cause constipation, allergies in babies.

      How to sterilize baby feeding bowls:
       

      Start by sterilizing the bowls and spoons which you are going to feed your baby. Take the bowl and spoon in a large saucepan, cover it with water and bring them to a boil. Boil it rapidly for 5 mins. Now you can turn the heat off and leave them stay in the hot water till use. 
       

      How to make Rice, Dal & Vegetable Khichdi:
       

      Ingredients:

      Rice - 3 tblspn  
      Yellow Moong Dal / Pasi Paruppu - 3 tblspn
      Mixed Vegetables - 1/2 cup chopped (Carrots, Beetroots, Cauliflower, Potato)
      Spinach - a handful 
      Garlic - 3 fat cloves  
      Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - a pinch  
      Salt to taste
      Homemade Ghee - 1 tblspn 
      Water - 1 1/2 cup
       

      Method:

      Take rice and dal in a bowl and wash it well. Now drain it and add into pressure cooker.
       

      Add in chopped vegetables, garlic, asafoetida, salt.

      Add in water and cover the cooker. Pressure cook this for 5 whistle and simmer it for 5 mins. Switch off the flame and let the steam escape all by itself.

      Open the cooker and mash the rice with a potato masher or if you want it to be smooth, you can take that in a blender and puree them.
       

      Pour this into bowl. Drizzle in homemade ghee and mix well.
       

      Feed your baby warm.
