Coconut Chutney Recipe / Hotel Coconut Chutney Recipe

Coconut chutney takes place in our breakfast menu quite often, since hubby loves it so much. This version is a white coconut chutney like the one which you get in hotel. I will share a recipe of getti chutney soon which they serve with set dosa or bhajji bonda..It is a slight variation from this..

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Serves : 4 to 5


Fresh Coconut - 1 cup grated packed measured
Roasted Gram Dal / Pori Kadalai / Pottu Kadalai - 3 tblspn
Green Chillies - 3 to 4
Garlic - 1 clove
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Salt to taste
Water as needed

For Seasoning:
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - a sprig


Take all ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine puree by adding some water.

Pour that into a bowl and adjust the consistency with water.

Make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard and curry leaves. Pour this over the curry and mix well.

Serve with idly or dosa.

Take Coconut in a mixer

Add Green Chillies

some roasted gram dal

Add some salt

add some ginger and garlic

Grind them

add some water

make into a smooth puree

transfer it to a bowl

Add some more water 

Mix well to make it in the correct consistency

Heat oil in a pan

add some mustard

add some curry leaves

pour it over the chutney and mix
