Panna cotta is my absolute favourite desert. It is similar to puddings, but a lot more silkier than them and just melt in your mouth. I have already made a layered cherry panna cotta recipe, and it was my fav, it looks pretty too..
I always wanted to post a basic vanilla panna cotta recipe. I made this using china grass so it can be listed under eggless. This panna cotta turned super creamy and so delicious..I had some leftover chocolate sauce from my churros, so i used those for this and the combination is like heaven. Do you believe i emptied two bowls of this at a time. It is that good..
My next mission is to make a chocolate panna cotta..What else flavour do you want me to post, let me know so i can try it..
Preparation Time : 15 mins
Setting Time : 6 hours or overnight
Serves : 2 to 3
Ingredients:
For Panna Cotta:
Cream - 1/2 cup ( I used Fresh Cream)
Full Fat Milk - 1/2 cup
Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp
Sugar - 3 tblspn
China Grass - 1 tsp ( If using gelatin use 1/2 tsp)
Water - 3 tblspn
For Chocolate Sauce:
Dark Chocolate - 100 grams
Heavy Cream - 50 ml
Milk - 50 ml
Vanilla Essence - 1/2 tsp
Honey - 1 tblspn
Method:
Take china grass in a bowl and soak it with 3 tblspn of water. Pop the bowl into the microwave and heat it for 2 to 3 mins till it is melted or you can melt it gently on stove top.
Start by making panna cotta..Take cream, milk in a sauce pan and heat it up..Once you see small bubbles forming around the sides, take it off the heat and add in vanilla and china grass mix. Mix well.
Pour this into individual bowls and cover it with a plastic wrap. refrigerate it overnight.
The next day make the chocolate sauce, take cream, milk, honey and vanilla in a sauce pan, heat it up, once it reaches a boil, take it off the heat and add in the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 4 to 5 mins. Now mix it well so the chocolate is melted. Chocolate sauce done..
When serving, ease the sides of the pudding, or just dip the pudding bowl into hot water just for 30 sec. invert the pudding into plate and serve with a nice drizzle of chocolate sauce.
