100% Whole Wheat Hot Dog Rolls Recipe / Eggless Wheat Hot Dog Buns Recipe


I am not a big fan of hot dogs, i dont like sausages as well. But making a hot dogs rolls has been my dream for a long time, because i wanted to try a vegetarian version of hot dogs so everyone can enjoy. Since hubby and me are in diet, i decided to make this using whole wheat flour and enjoy it for our lunch.

I used 100% whole wheat flour in making this. But you can make it using half whole wheat and half all purpose flour for lighter rolls as well.

Preparation Time : 20 mins
Resting Time : 2 to 3 hours
Baking Time : 25 mins
Makes : 10 rolls

Ingredients:

Whole Wheat Flour / Atta - 3 cups + more for kneading
Warm Milk - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/2 cup or more
Sugar - 1 tblspn
Salt to taste
Dried Yeast - 1 tblspn
Olive Oil - 3 tblspn

Method:

Take warm milk in a bowl, sprinkle sugar and yeast and let it sit for 5 mins till the yeast is bubbly and activated.

Take wheat flour, curd, salt, oil in a bowl and mix well. Add in yeast milk and knead well. Add in water and mix well. The dough will be very sticky.

Now dust work surface with some flour and tip the dough into the work surface and keep kneading for a good 6 to 8 mins. Now the dough will start to come together. 

Put that in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap and it it rise for 1 hour to 1.30 hour.

Once it is doubled in size, punch down the air and roll it into a log. Cut into equal portions.

Take a portion and flatten it into a rectangle. Roll it from a side and pinch the ends together. Place the seamed side down in a oiled baking tray. Repeat like this for the whole dough. Leave space between each roll.

Now cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

In the last 10 mins of rising, preheat the oven to 200 Degree C.

Now brush the top with some milk and sprinkle sesame seed over it.

Bake it for 25 mins untill the top is golden.

Remove it and let it cool completely.

Now slice and serve.

Notes:

1) This rolls are made with 100% whole wheat flour, it will be little dense. If you want a little lighter rolls, add 1/2 cup plain all purpose flour instead of  1/2 cup of wheat flour. 

2)This is best had on the same day.

3)The dough which you make will be very sticky, this will result in lighter soft buns.

4)You can make normal buns out of it too.

Take all your ingredients

and some yogurt

drizzle in some olive oil

pour in the yeast milk

and some water

mix well to a sticky dough..The dough will be very sticky

dust your work surface with a good amount of wheat flour

tip the mix in

start kneading

at once stage it will form a soft dough

put it back in a bowl

cover it up and let it rise

Now the dough is all risen

Grease a baking dish really well

shape the dough into a log

cut it into equal portions

take a portion

roll it like this

now bring the sides together

pinch the sides

done

place it in baking tray

all done

cover it and let it rise again

now it all doubled in size

brush it with some milk

i sprinkle some sesame seed on some rolls

now it is baked

let it cool a little and invert to a plate or board

enjoy soft healthy rolls
