I love making homemade snacks like murukku, so far i have posted mullu murukku, thenkuzhal, coconut milk murukku, wheat flour murukku, Achu Murukku..All those turned out so good and has never failed me. So i have never feared about making homemade murukku..
It is festival season and tomorrow is krishna jayanthy and i am posting this recipe now. Yes i know it is too late, but not too late. Because it takes only 30 mins to make this from start to finish. It is like a instant version and i loved it so much. It turned out so crispy.
This recipe is so amazing, because i used regular store bought rice flour for this and it came out so delicious. Now this recipe is going to be in my repitore.I used the regular mullu murukku press for this, but you can use any press for this..

Ingredients:
Rava / Sooji - 1/2 cup
Rice Flour / Arisi Mavu - 1 cup ( Store bought roasted rice flour)
Salt to taste
Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
Soft Unsalted Butter - 1 tblspn
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1 tblspn + for Deep frying
Sesame Seeds / Ellu - 1 tblspn
Water - 1 cup + 1/4 cup
Method:
Take sooji in a blender and powder them finely. Set aside.
Heat 1 cup of water in a sauce pan, once it comes to a boil, add the powdered sooji and mix well to it gets thick and cooked.
Now take the mixture off the stove and let it come warm.
Now add in salt, sesame seeds, butter, chilli powder and asafetida. Mix well.
Add in rice flour and mix well, if you find the batter too dry, add in some water and make it to a soft dough.
Heat 1 tblspn of oil in a small pan till it gets hot, pour this hot oil over the dough and mix well.
Take a muruku press, place half of dough in, and press to make muruku.
Heat oil for deep frying, drop muruku and fry for a min till it gets golden and the shh sound goes from the oil.
Drain in paper towel and serve.
